Special Features
of the Magnum Water Purifiers
Modular Design:
Each system consists of several lamp modules utilizing 2 or 4 ultraviolet
germicidal lamps, each contained in a fused quartz sleeve and mounted
in a stainless steel frame. Modular design permits a treatment approach
tailored to your specific requirements without the need to resort
to custom design for each application. Modules can be easily removed
or swapped to enable maintenance or service with a minimum of system
down time.
Uniform Lamp Spacing: The lamp spacing has been carefully conceived
to provide a uniform germicidal dosage throughout the disinfection
channel. As a result, Magnum units provide a consistent well-balanced
exposure of the effluent.
Low-Pressure Lamps:
Similar to mercury arc fluorescent lamps, however they are constructed
from quartz envelope rather than a glass envelope and emit over
90 percent of their ultraviolet energy at 253.7 nanometers which
is the region of maximum germicidal effectiveness and highly lethal
to virus, bacteria and mold. The rated life of Ster-L-Ray germicidal
lamps is 10,000 hours and operating wall temperature is about 104
degrees Fahrenheit. The electrical cost of operating a low-pressure
lamp is equal to that of a fluorescent lamp of the same size and
wattage.
Lamp Operation Indicators (L.E.D.):
Pilot lamp array provides individual indication of operation for
each germicidal lamp and facilitates quick location of the problem
in the event of germicidal lamp outage.
Ultraviolet Monitor:
Visually indicates the level of germicidal ultraviolet available
after penetration of the quartz sleeve and the liquid medium and
can provide data to a remote location.
NEMA 4x Electronic Enclosure: Water tight stainless steel enclosure
protects electronic components from outside environment. Quarter
turn latches provide ready access to interior components for inspection
and lamp replacement.
Elapsed Time Indicator: Provides
visual indication (in hours) of the time that the unit is in service
and serves as an aid for periodic maintenance.
Electronic Ballast:
State-of-the-Art electronic ballasts use significantly less power
and operate cooler and more reliably than conventional ballasts.
